Personal Belongings

Certain personal items such as furniture and furnishings may be brought into the home by mutual agreement. These will remain the property and responsibility of the individual. The home shall provide a place of safety for the storing of personal valuables. Use of a telephone is available. Private telephones may be connected in individual rooms at the occupant's expense. We ask that all clothing be indelibly marked with the owners name or initials, and that clothing is machine washable.

Religious Requirements

Arrangements made for residents to attend religious services of their choice: Transport arrangements can be made for attendance at the local churches for Sunday Service. Alternatively, local clergy make domiciliary visits to give private communion or other rite.

Health Needs

Care is given as appropriate to the resident's needs within the concept of family care. The home will liaise with doctors and community nurses to ensure that the correct care is given. White Waves will look after those who become ill, addressing each individual`s needs and the ability of the home to fulfil these needs. Relatives and interested parties would be involved as necessary to ensure that the best possible care is given.

Therapeutic Techniques

Weekly visits are made by a specialist group to provide therapeutic exercise, appropriate to the ages and abilities of our residents.

Privacy and Dignity

Personal care is carried out in privacy in order to maintain the dignity of the residents, who are also consulted where appropriate, in matters relating to them or their home. Visitors are welcome to see the residents privately in their rooms or other quiet area.

Medicines

Where people prefer to retain responsibility for medicines and the Proprietor/Manager is satisfied that they are competent to do so, he/she will regulate the supply and use of her/his own medicines although the Proprietor/Manager will give every assistance necessary. The home has a system for the control, supply and use of medicines and will use it for those who are unable or unwilling to handle their own medication.

Doctors

Residents will not be required to change doctors for the convenience of the care home. However, it must be recognised that doctors work within a geographical area and a move into residential care may necessitate a change. Treatment from a doctor, nurse or other similar person will be given in private. All will be able to talk privately to their own doctor or nurse.

Legal Advice

The Proprietor/Manager will assist with the necessary arrangements when the resident requires legal advice i.e. to visit or be visited by a solicitor. Confidentiality between the solicitor and the individual will be maintained at all times.
